Therapy Dog Good Listener for Reading Practice

Students enjoy reading as Buddy, a trained therapy dog, listens.

Every Monday at 10:00 AM, a very special visitor arrives to work with students  in the library.  That unusual visitor is Buddy, a specially trained therapy dog!!  Buddy patiently sits in the library and listens as students from various classes come to practice their reading.  For several years, therapy dogs have been used to help reluctant readers practice their developing skills in a non- threatening environment.  As you can imagine, the students love this brief visit and are very motivated to read!  Mrs. Becky Rene’ (pictured below),  volunteers her time each week to provide this exciting and valuable service to the students at Northridge!
